The Story Behind The Practice

Little Medicine Ranch Obstetrics is truly a family affair.  Dr. Aleksander Robles, MD, FACOG opened the clinic in 2026 at the direction and with the encouragement of his wife, best friend, nurse, clinic manager, and Central Oregon native, Mehama Robles, RN.

Dr. Robles had been practicing traditional Obstetrics and Gynecology in a variety of settings since completing residency in 2015.  The first four years of his career were spent as an active duty officer in the United States Air Force, where he cared for Airmen, Veterans, and their families in a full scope OBGYN practice.  After achieving the rank of Major, he separated from the military and moved to Bend where he worked as an OB hospitalist at St. Charles Medical Center.  Here he was solely focused on inpatient OB care and was responsible for accepting and managing high risk pregnancy transfers from all across Central Oregon.  After St. Charles closed the program, he joined Dr. Murphy for a short time.

It was then that he met his future wife, Mehama.  Mehama was not only a fixture in the community, but was also traveling all around Central Oregon providing care as a home health nurse.  Both having traveled through Montana, they got a wild hair and moved the family to the northwestern corner of the state where Dr. Robles practiced as a solo practitioner at a Critical Access hospital.  It was that experience that reminded him why he chose this specialty to begin with.  To have patients that he would see from the very first ultrasound, to the delivery, and through the postpartum period was a truly rewarding way of practicing Obstetrics and something he had not experience to that point, having been but one of many providers in groups of various sizes.

During this time, Dr. Robles began exploring Functional Medicine and started the process of obtaining a certification with the Institute of Functional Medicine.  The small population at his critical access location and unique level of independence provided by the medical group allowed him the freedom to incorporate more Functional Medicine into a traditional OBGYN practice.

Extenuating circumstances would eventually bring them back to Bend, but there was no putting the genie back in the bottle.  Dr. Robles had found a practice of medicine that was rewarding for himself and his patients alike.  There was no other way he wanted to practice.  As there was no similar groups to join in Bend, Dr. Robles and his wife decided to open their independent practice.  That's how Little Medicine Ranch Obstetrics came to be.
